Hyundai Veloster Turbo R-Spec revealed
We like the Hyundai Veloster – really, we do – even if its looks make promises it really can’t deliver. There’s nothing wrong with the way the Veloster goes or handles, but there’s nothing exciting either; it’s a sporty-looking coupe for buyers who don’t really like driving but want something that looks sporty. VW just has to make this car! The VW Golf R 400 is the most ballistic, angry VW Golf that the factory has ever built – as quick as the VW Vision GTI Concept but based on the current Golf R, so it seems tantalisingly viable for production. With a ridiculous 3.9sec 0-62mph claim, the ‘400’, named after its Porsche 911 Carrera S-matching 400PS (395bhp), will rocket into the Beijing motor show to say ‘Cop this, A45 AMG’.

We did think Lamborghini had come to the end of the road with the Gallardo ahead of an all new Gallardo arriving in 2014, but they have one more trick up their sleeves to milk the last drop out of the most successful car in Lamborghini’s history – the Gallardo LP 570-4 Squadra Corse. The Squadra Corse is, in effect, a road-going version of the tgrack Super Trofeo – as was the Blancpain and the Gallardo LP570-4 Super Trofeo Stradale – but this looks certain to be the last of the Gallardos. The Squadra Corse gets plenty of input from the Super Trofeo, with a carbon fibre rear wing, carbon ceramic brakes and a carbon fibre, removable, engine cover.
